P*S*B - December 6 ~ Night Photography from Dec 2006

A year ago this month, DD Jen and I spent five fun-filled days in Las Vegas with my Dad. I took a ton of nighttime shots - some of which came out pretty well - and I wanted to share them here for this challenge. Did not use a tripod for any of these photos; camera used was my "old" digital point & shoot, Fujifilm Finepix S3100.

This first set of photos was taken from the portico of the Bellagio Resort & Casino, where they have extravagant water fountain displays, often put to music. Placed my camera on one of the cement columns lining the portico to use as a tripod.

The following shots were taken at the Fremont Street Experience (all shots were hand-held). For those who have never been to this popular attraction, here is a blurb from their website:

The world-famous, one-of-a-kind entertainment venue is home to Viva Vision, the biggest big screen on the planet. More than 12 million lights in the Viva Vision canopy and 550,000 watts of concert quality sound pumped to speakers throughout the venue produce an incredible array of eye-popping imagery and heart pounding music. The giant LED screen towers 90-feet above a pedestrian mall lined with unique retail shopping kiosks and two permanent performance stages. Ten legendary casinos line Fremont Street Experience with more than 60 restaurants and thousands of loose slots. Free concerts, special events, and roaming street performers entertain the nearly 17 million visitors who come to experience the vintage Vegas attraction each year.

  5. Kim, these are great. How can you capture that night scenery with your camera set on ISO100? Teach me something here....I thought we had to set the ISO higher at night? Guess I'll have to go read about it.

  6. Hi there. My name is Tony Young. I knew Philip Crouse. He was a part of our evangelism team in downtown Denver. I just read your comment on www.denverpost.com. Everything you said about him was perfectly true. What a love for souls he had! What faith! I praise God he accepted Christ while attending your church! Thank you for giving to the Lord! I miss him already. It's hard because we connected very well. Truly connected. I miss him very much. But, I am very glad that one day we'll see him again. If you'd like to contact me or our team to talk about Phil, please call my number at 720-641-2955. God bless!
